Support for Social Anxiety
at Evolving Minds Counselling
At Evolving Minds, we understand social anxiety can make everyday interactions feel overwhelming. We offer support to people of all ages who are experiencing social anxiety.

What is Social Anxiety

Social anxiety can show up in many different ways, including:

-
Feeling scared or nervous in social situations, especially when meeting new people.
-
Physical reactions like blushing, sweating, or stuttering when around others.
-
Finding it hard to start or keep relationships going.
-
Feeling anxious or worried about speaking in public.
-
Avoiding social events because of a fear of being judged.
-
Using alcohol or drugs as a coping strategy.
-
Thoughts of suicide or attempts at self-harm.

How We Can Help

At Evolving Minds, we use various therapeutic approaches to help manage social anxiety. One of the most effective methods is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
CBT helps by challenging negative thought patterns and increasing emotional awareness, giving you the tools to face social situations with more confidence. For CBT to be effective, it’s important to practice the new skills and complete the tasks we discuss outside of therapy sessions.

We also offer other therapies, such as:

-
Mindfulness-Based Therapy: This helps you stay present and reduce anxiety about future social interactions.
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): This approach encourages accepting your feelings rather than fighting them, allowing you to live more fully.
-
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): This therapy focuses on managing intense emotions and building healthy coping skills.
